Cabbage Tree Island

"Cabbage Tree Island" is a poignant project by Indigenous Australian filmmaker Jahvis Loveday, produced by Something Deadly. Jahvis joined the Desert Pea Media team for an impactful initiative in Cabbage Tree Island, situated on Nyangbal country in Ballina. Over the course of five days, he collaborated closely with local youth and the DPM team to compose a song detailing the harsh repercussions of the 2022 floods on this small Indigenous community. The resulting music video is a powerful representation of the youths' perspectives, capturing both the deep emotional toll and their hopes for the future. Crafted to an exceptional standard, the video serves as both a testament to the resilience of the CTI community and a call to action for necessary changes.
